Taking a Dot for a Walk Through Space
If we take a line as the fundamental element of drawing, then to redefine drawing is to reconstruct the line. Borrowing Paul Klee’s aphorism, “A line is a dot that went on a walk,” this piece takes a dot on a walk through 3 dimensions, rather than 2. Wire comes together to form a single 3-Dimensional line of varied weight, a line that necessitates new gestures of twisting to exist. It is a singular art-object, as opposed to the product of a tool leaving marks on a secondary surface, a line that does not privilege one viewpoint.
